CHINMOY Gangopadhyay has assumed charge of director (projects), PFC with effect from January 1, 2017. A graduate in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and MBA from FMS, New Delhi, Gangopadhyay has more than 35 years of experience in power sector, serving organizations like NTPC, PFC and PFCCL. as CEO of PFC Consulting Ltd. Earlier, he served as director in Tatiya Andhra Megha Power Limited, Jharkhand Infrapower Limited, Power Equity Capital Advisors Private Limited, Odisha Infrapower Limited, and Deoghar Infra Limited.
Earlier in May 2016, PESB invited as many as 12 candidates for the post of director (Project), Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC). Apart from him, the following persons were interviewed in the selection meeting: Naveen Kumar, ED (Projects), PFC; Subir Saha, GM, PFC, Sanjeev Singh, ED/MD (DTL), PGCIL; Dinesh Vij, ED (CP), PFC; Naveen Chandra Bansal, ED, SJVNL; Praveen Kumar Singh, ED (Proj), PFC; HS Suresh, ED (Engg), AAI; Ravinder Singh Dhillon, ED, PFC; Anil Kumar Sharma, Airport Director, AAI, Gaurishankar Patra, GM (Coord), PFC and Potta Srinivasan, IRSE, (RVNL). PESB recommended Chinmoy Gangopadhyay for the post of Director (Project), PFC.
Earlier, Power Finance Corporation (PFC) was conferred with the prestigious ‘CBIP Award 2017’ for ‘Best Power Finance Company’ from Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation on December 30. A Navratna PSU, PFC has been conferred with many prestigious awards including "KPMG-Infrastructure Today Award 2008" for its contribution in development of power sector. PFC has been providing financial assistance to power projects across the country including generation, transmission and distribution. The PSU has forayed into financing of other infrastructure projects which have backward linkages to the power sector like coal mine development, fuel transportation. PFC is also the nodal agency for the implementation of the ambitious Ultra Mega Power Projects (UMPPs).
