through GATE score.  This year NTPC has announced of 120 vacancies in various disciplines of engineering. The total installed capacity of the country's largest power utility stood at 47,178 MW as on June 30, 2016. The PSU has over the years emerged as the dominant power major with presence in the entire value chain of the power generation business. From fossil fuels it has forayed into generating electricity via hydro, nuclear and renewable energy sources. To strengthen its core business, NTPC has diversified into the fields of consultancy, power trading, training of power professionals, rural electrification, ash utilisation and coal mining as well. NTPC was ranked 400th in the ‘2016, Forbes Global 2000’ ranking of the World’s biggest companies. Applications are sought from interested candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology/ AMIE with not less than 65 percent marks. Candidates should note that the marks of average of all the years will be taken into consideration irrespective of the weightage given to any particular year. Final year students are also eligible to apply, however they are required to score minimum 65% marks in their degree.
The upper age limit for aspirants is 27 years as on the last date of online application.

Out of the total of 120 vacancies announced, 76 are reserved for general category.
50 vacancies are available in Mechanical discipline and 40 in electrical. Civil, electronics and instrumentation disciplines have 10 vacancies each.
Stepwise selection procedure for NTPC Recruitment 2017
Candidates have to appear for GATE 2017
On the basis of GATE 2017 score, NTPC will release the list of shortlisted candidates for Online Aptitude Test (qualifying in nature)
On the basis of performance in Online Aptitude Test, candidates will be shortlisted for GD & PI.
Final merit list will be prepared taking 85% of GATE 2017 marks, 5% of GD marks, 10% of interview marks.
After being selected, candidates shall have to go through one year training at various places. The final place of posting will be decided after the completion of training.

Candidates have to apply online at ntpccareers.net for NTPC ET 2017. The registration number of GATE 2017 is essential to apply for NTPC recruitment. Candidates belonging to general/ OBC category are required to pay Rs 150 as registration fee. However no fees are required to SC/ ST/ PWD/ XSM category. Candidates can deposit the fee either through offline or online mode.
