CCI clears NBCC's acquisition of HSCC

THE Competition Commission on October 23 approved construction major NBCC's bid to acquire of 100 per cent stake in consultancy firm HSSC. NBCC last month was selected as the buyer for 100 per cent strategic disinvestment of HSCC at a bid amount of Rs 285 crore by the government.
The government last October invited bids from central public sector enterprises (CPSEs) for buying out entire 100 per cent stake in HSCC, along with management control.

The CCI "approves acquisition of 100 per cent equity shareholding in HSCC by NBCC," the regulator said in a tweet.
Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation (HSCC), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is engaged in the provision of consultancy services in healthcare and other social sectors in India and abroad. In the current fiscal, the government plans to raise Rs 80,000 crore through strategic sale of PSUs. Deals beyond a certain threshold require clearance of the Competition Commission of India (CCI).
HSCC (India) Limited earlier known as Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation Limited is a Mini Ratna PSU under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. HSCC is a multi-disciplinary consultancy and procurement management service organisation working in the healthcare and other social infrastructure development sectors. The company offers services in feasibility studies, design engineering, detailed tender documentation, construction, supervision, comprehensive project management, procurement support services in all areas of civil, mechanical, information technology and auxiliary medical service areas.
Main activities of the Noida-headquartered PSU encompass conceptual studies, facilities design, project management, procurement and supply, logistics and installation & commissioning, skill enhancement through training & re-training.
Over the years, HSCC has designed & engineered a number of institutional & healthcare infrastructure projects and other infrastructure including Residential townships/ housing complex, hostels, Guest houses facilities, Sports facilities, Convention centres, Auditoriums, shopping complex etc. for staff as per client requirement.
HSCC also provides consultancy services for setting up of laboratories corresponding to with clean room facilities norms and Bio Safety Levels ranging from BSL-2 to BSL-4 standards.
